Woodcarving Birch Burl Wood kuksa – Solo Bushcraft Wild Island Camp – Halti Laavu Pro

This is part two of a 7 days solo bushcraft trip camping in a wild island, campfire cooking, wood carving a birch burl kuksa, ( brought from home in a plastic bag to keep moisture ) using a carving axe, a bent gouge and a carving knife. I improvise a work bench from the same fallen tree I used as a saw horse on the last video to work on the project. Birch burl has crazy grain structures, its tricky to follow it but very challenging and enjoyable. I managed to keep my fingers intact while carving, but got burnt with hot oil later on while filming my cooking. My leg knocked the tripod and it came crashing down on my frying pan knocking some hot oil on two fingers. I immersed my hand in cold water for at least half an hour, one finger got a blister so big it popped. I applied my spruce resin, olive oil and bees wax salve to it then wrapped the worse finger up. Happy to say they are both healing nicely. I also manage to deep scratch my hand on a log with sharp branches. I washed it with hand gel and super glued the skin to seal it. Works wonders as usual.

Overall a fun but eventful day. No ukulele playing that night lol… Next part will be up next weekend.

New videos every week, thanks for watching!
