This point of view video shows three most basic woodcarving techniques with three different carving materials: carrot, potatowood and basswood (called lime in the UK, linden in Deutschland). These carving materials are friendly to the beginner because they are soft and uniform. Potatowood, sold as Pomm Schnitz on amazon.de is a new product available in Europe. Like products (fake woods) are available in the US (balsafoam for instance). The knife is made by Kirsch and is available wherever woodworking supplies are sold, including the internet.
