Acorn and Oak Leaves Relief Carving [Wood carving Project]

I decided to try my hand at some wood carving and chose oak leaves and acorns as my subject matter. It’s a bit messy and certainly far from perfect but it was a lot of fun and a good challenge.

I took a reference photo and made an outline on a drawing program and then printed it off, using a pencil as a kind of carbon paper to get the drawing onto the wood. I wanted to take the sides down a little for the relief and so decided to use a V chisel to mark all the lines around the edges.

This was a quite fiddly wood carving project and something I’d like to attempt to make again now with hopefully more skill than I had back then!
