Beginners Guide to Wood Carving – Carving a Simple Spoon

Our last little project to finish of my beginners guide to carving series and i thought it would be nice to finish off with a basic spoon which is often a favourite with new carvers.

I have deliberately carved this without a spoon/curved/hook knife just to show that you don’t need one when your starting out though it does give more versatility if you are making spoons from billets later on.

This little eating spoon is no frills and i have made a really simplified version but there is nothing to stop you spending some time and adding some embellishments to make it look a lot nicer.
