Woodcarving/Whittling a "Ball in a Cage" in Highspeed

#ballinacage #woodcarving #whittling I wasn’t going to make another video until into the new year but got playing around today in my shop and decided to give you a “quick” version of a ball in a cage whittle.
-i started out using a 1x1x 2 1/2 inch piece of Basswood
-with my pencil i marked all edges in at 1/4″ and made lines on all corner edges
-after marking the center point i proceeded to mark a 1 inch square between the outside corners for what will be the ball
-using my OCCTOOLS 1 3/8″ knife i cut all the inside squaresoutside of the ball until the were hollowed out leaving the outside corners and the center for the ball
-moving on to the ball i carefully rounded it as best i could before cutting down to free the ball from the outside posts
-with the ball free i continued rounding until i could turn in all directions and was as close to round as my eye could see all the while being sure that the round stayed midway of the posts (too much and the ball will fall out)
-to finish up i just cleaned up all the post edges from the knicks i had made and rounded all the corners
-a quick google search will give you much longer drawn out instructions but i hope this will get you on your way -have fun and as always i appreciate all your likes, subs and shares -thx guys https://www.patreon.com/douglinker
